The TLC Opening Statement Seminar arms lawyers with brutally efficient methods to prepare an effective opening statement and then empowers them to deliver it with passion and persuasiveness straight into the hearts of jurors. This program is taught by nationally acclaimed trial lawyers. You will learn how to avoid the pitfalls that most trial lawyers fall into and instead how to capture the subtle nuances to prepare, develop and deliver a powerfully persuasive Opening Statement to win your case.

All Trial Lawyers College courses are taught by graduates of the College, who volunteer their time, talents and resources to provide high-quality training not offered in any other CLE program. Because our faculty are volunteers, and are actively practicing in their respective firms, our faculty list is subject to change.

The seminar will adjourn at 12 Noon on Sunday.
Proof of Covid-19 vaccination and indoor masking will be required.
IMPORTANT DETAILS
Proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 (last dose at least 2 weeks prior to the course start date) will be required for all students attending TLC’s in-person programs in 2021.
We respect those who do not choose to be vaccinated and encourage attendance at one of our Virtual Seminars instead.
Indoor masking is required of all participants. Bring your own supply of face masks for travel and the duration of the course.

Course Materials & Prerequisites
Several articles are required reading as a part of your course. Printed copies will not be provided to you. Download the TLC course materials on our website.
Registration deadline is the Monday prior to the course start date unless the course is full prior to that.
Applicant must be a member of their State Bar in good standing. Must also be a plaintiff’s lawyer, public defender, or a criminal defense lawyer. TLC does not offer training to attorneys who are an employee of a corporation, insurance firm or of the federal government (other than legal services or public defenders).
Food, Lodging & Roommates
The course fee ($1699) includes tuition, and triple-occupancy hotel room (3 nights: Thurs./Fri./Sat.) and board (8 meals: Thurs. dinner to Sun. breakfast) at the Sleeping Lady Resort. You will be assigned to a room with at least one other lawyer of the same gender (most rooms have 3 beds; 1 room has 8 bunkbeds). Bring earplugs in case your roommate/s is a snorer.
Dress code: Plan to dress in comfort, not in style. For classtime, sneakers, jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts and casual outfits are appropriate. The venue offers ample opportunity to experience the great outdoors, so bring weather-appropriate outerwear as well.
Travel Information
An email will be sent to registered attendees with course information. Due to Covid protocols, there will be no TLC-arranged shuttle. Please make your own ground transportation arrangements.
REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS
The entire balance for a TLC course is due 90 days after the start date of the course unless other arrangements have been made with the Financial Officer. Any registrations made within 5 days of the start of the course must be paid in full at the time of registration. Tuition payments are only transferable to another TLC course within the same calendar year or to a substitute participant for the same course. Cancellations must be e-mailed to TLC’s Registrar: registrar@triallawyerscollege.org.
For all courses except Graduate I and Graduate II: Cancellations received at least 14 calendar days prior to the course will receive a full refund. Cancellations received 13 – 6 calendar days prior to the course will receive a 50% refund. We regret that no refunds can be made 5 days or less prior to the start date of the course.
Graduate I and Graduate II Course Cancellation Policy: As of 2019, both these courses will be by application, rather than by registration. Upon acceptance by TLC, all students must remit a $500 deposit at the time of submitting the application and is refundable only 60+ days prior to the course. Refunds will not be made for cancellations to Grad 1 or 2 within 59 days or less of the commencement of the program.
